Kansas Commissioner of Insurance Sandy Praeger recently revoked the licenses of three Crawford County insurance agents and warned area citizens who may have been customers of the agents to check with their insurance companies regarding coverage.
Praeger revoked the licenses of Kregg W. Muninger, Monica Ann Miller and Anna R. Miller, and issued cease and desist orders against all three.
The actions followed a Kansas Insurance Department investigation involving non-payment of clients’ premiums to insurance companies.
“Customers of those former agents should contact their insurance companies to verify their coverage,” Commissioner Praeger said.
Monica Ann Miller was a Farmers agent in Pittsburg, Kan. According to the commissioner’s order, Monica Ann Miller “admitted to the auditor and in a written statement that she used cash premium payments ‘to make ends meet’ for ‘about a year’ and stated she intended to repay the outstanding premium payments but did not have the funds to do so.”
She was more than $9,500 in arrears at the time of her termination as a Farmers agent in February 2010, the order stated.
Anna R. Miller was also a Farmers agent in Pittsburg. She was informed by the company in June 2010 that she had been terminated as an agent; the company said cash outstanding from Anna R. Miller as of June 17 was $6,537.
Muninger, whose agency, Midwest Insurance, is also located in Pittsburg, is alleged to have accepted premium payments from two separate businesses for commercial insurance policies but did not remit any payment to any insurance company. The total amount of premium accepted by Muninger was nearly $10,500, according to the commissioner’s order.
