Anybody who accuses a priest who’s been dead for 27 years of grabbing their _ss 45 years ago is a piece of useless human garbage. NOBODY with a legitimate gripe waits 45 years after the fact to come forward. Funny how the introduction of MONEY gave all these nut cases the courage to come forward. Were it not for lottery day, these freaks would never have been heard from. Shame on the diocese for paying him $225,000. What were his damages? Why isn’t there a statute of liability on these kinds of ridiculous cases? This clown must be in his late sixties and has lived a pretty good life. Sounds like he didn’t plan very well for his retirement and needs some cash.

“The Catholic Diocese of Lansing has paid $225,000 to a man who says he was molested by a priest in the 1950s but says the accusation can’t be substantiated.” …

Why in heaven’s name (sorry, couldn’t resist) would the Doocese cave and make a payment for an unsubstantiated “injury”?

I hope that this man is just looking for a book. But there are some obvious things you don’t understand about being a victim of a priest. First, sexual assault of a minor isn’t like having your wallet stolen so they often go unreported. Second, to be violated by a priest is even worse because they are supposed to support and guide you. Not to mention, in the era, people believed their priest over their child. If he is a victim, no monetary settlement will “fix” him. But it’s interesting that they will give payment for an unsubstantiated accusation from 60 years ago.
