    Not disputing the judgement, but what sort of device to treat a cut was being used? Anyone know?

    Far as I know O2 requires an ignition source.

    i agree, because if it was the device, then it would have burned the resident who was treating the patient at the time of treatment. later, sounds like something else had gone wrong. it could have been the old lady pulling on a metal device and caused a scratch for ignition if metal upon metal. although the hospital agreed to the settlement, i’d be concerned as well as to what really happened?

    Electrocauterization instrument? The article doesn’t provide enough information, but that’s about the only thing I can think of that they might be using in this situation.
