A suburban Chicago woman has filed a lawsuit against a Subway sandwich shop and the restaurant chain’s parent company.

The suit follows a recent salmonella outbreak linked to Subway restaurants in Illinois.

Forty-six-year-old Alicea Bush-Bailey of Bolingbrook claims a Subway sandwich made her so sick she went to the emergency room. She filed the lawsuit June 21 in Will County court.

Subway spokesman Kevin Kane says the company doesn’t comment on pending legal matters.

Subway has apologized to customers and is cooperating in an investigation. Subway is owned by privately held Doctor’s Associates Inc., based in Milford, Conn.

The Illinois Department of Public Health says 97 people got sick after eating at Subway restaurants in 28 counties.
