Nebraska Woman Sentenced for 3rd Time for Embezzling from Employers

A Milford, Neb., woman accused a third time for stealing money from an employer has been sentenced to two to three years in prison for embezzling from her current employer, an insurance firm.

Tonya S. Kelley’s had pleaded no contest to the charge and was sentenced for felony theft.

Lincoln police spokeswoman Katie Flood says Barney Insurance lost almost $2,700 in cash payments for insurance premiums between February and April 2009, when Kelley was employed there as a receptionist.

Flood says Kelley was arrested in 2003 for embezzling more than $2,000 from Performance Toyota and was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

In 2000, Flood says, Kelley was arrested for embezzling more than $8,500 from Tracy’s Body Shop. She got 10 months’ probation.

Kelley worked at the businesses when the money went missing.
