It doesn’t matter what excuses you make for overweight people, when I see a morbidly obese individual struggling to step up on the curb with a bag of KFC and super sized soft drink in hand I don’t feel sorry for them. I’m actually a bit disgusted. Never ever ever ever have I witnessed an obese person eating a light salad or out for a jog. And when I have, 6 months later they’ve miraculously dropped the weight! Must be a miracle considering it’s a disease and all. Don’t put their laziness and lack of self-discipline on me to feel guilty for not catering to their excuses because that’s all that is. Thyroid schmyroid…no excuse. And don’t begin to say, ‘that’s a real thing, you just don’t know anyone that’s struggled.’ I DO know. I know and these people have discipline and they are as fit and healthy as anyone else, just takes a little more WORK on their part. Lazy lazy lazy nobody wants to put in work. Hooters is not a fire department, police department, auto body shop, office, it’s a place for a certain group of women to flaunt some skin. TOTALLY different classification than what that law was meant for. Irritates me to no end.

Agree w/Ana. When you operate a business that depends on shapely and attractive women, you don’t compromise your business potential just because some plumper wants to work there. Nobody should be forced to hire anyone who doesn’t meet standards for the job. I’m sure if Ms. Chunker wanted to work in the kitchen where she wouldn’t be seen Hooter’s would be happy to offer her a job. Quite frankly, men to go Hooters to get away from the everyday situation and have a chance to look at shapely women…..by their definition. It’s the customer who defines what’s shapely and what isn’t. These two women should look for other jobs instead of trying to force a successful business to change just for them.

Maybe it would serve them right to get hired, then to have all male patrons refuse to have them be their waitresses.

And when you get right down to it.. not too many people enjoy seeing the overweight in short-shorts and tank-tops…

When one accepts an offer of employment from certain businesses, it should come as no surprise that they have certain standards on the way you look. Hope Hooters wins this one, but seeing what the court climate looks like in MI i’m not too optimistic about their chances.

I live in NY and see that “Brimingham, N.Y.” has a law protecting weighty persons.

Dones anyone have any idea where Birmingham is in NY? I can’t see to locate such a place. Even Wikapedia can’t tell me.

Yeah…that would kind of be like a gal going to Chippendales: hoping to see Patrick Swayze, but instead getting Chris Farley…LOL

How can you never, ever, ever, ever have witnessed something and WHEN I HAVE later they have miraculously dropped the weight? Your words make no sense, Ms. Ana

“Never ever ever ever have I witnessed an obese person eating a light salad or out for a jog. And when I have, 6 months later they’ve miraculously dropped the weight”
Wow, you are just a little ball of hate, aren’t you? Carrying around that much hate must be a real burden. Take a breath, relax, let it go. Your whole post is a rant against anyone overweight. All brought on by two girls who are not OBESE filing a ridiculous suit.
For the record, I agree with Hooters, they can hire who they want and set the standards that fit their business.

I don’t know ONE woman that hasn’t wanted to change her looks in some way. I know MANY women, inlcuding myself, that recognize if you stick to a reasonable diet and excersize you can control your dress size. If you eat fast food three times a week and never take the stairs or walk your dog you might get a little thick in the thighs. Too often others look at fit folks and say “it’s easy for them.” Not fair. I’ts not easy being thin. In the words of Gwen Stephani, “don’t be fooled, I starve my a55 to look like this.” And in the words of my size obessed mother in law, “nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.”

Too old, too fat, too straight, too short, too thin, too tall, too smart, too dumb, too uncoordinated, too strong, too weak, too whatever, we have a law for you and jobs ready for those who want to enforce them. Universal equality for every aspect of life, or condition, that is the utopia now being sought by the busy bodies of this bankrupt political class, all at the expense of real issues. It is truly silly season in America.
