Parents Sue Over Son’s Death at Indiana Railroad Crossing

The parents of a 6-year-old boy who died after the car in which he was riding was struck by a train at a southern Indiana rail crossing are suing over his death.

The lawsuit alleges that Indiana Rail Road Co., the train’s engineer and Greene County officials knew the crossing was dangerous and were negligent for not trying to make it safer.

The suit seeks damages to compensate them for the boy’s death. It also alleges that many residents had reported concerns about the crossing’s dangers but officials took no action.

Christopher Perez suffered head injuries in the February 2008 crash. He was airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, where he died 10 days later.
