The “friend” of Mayor Blase has died. Actually about 5 or 6 years ago I believe. His son was implicated as well, but cooperated fully with authorities and received his punishment. Unfortunately a victim of the circumstances in this mess.
Is it any different than what goes on in Rosemont? Is that the next big fall? And when will Daley finally get caught with too many fingers in the cookie jar?
I grew up in Niles. Always thought he was a Mayor Daley Jr. He did run the city well. He should’ve known better. Look at Near North Insurance and Chicago…
I’m shocked to hear a politician from this state in trouble with the law over kickbacks. I guess it’s hard to smell a rat when you’re standing in the sewer.
I am not sure how to take putting an 81 year old man in prison. It is like giving him capital punishment. House arrest would have been more appropriate given his age and health. Yet,the prosecutor wanted to use this 81 year old man to advance his career. What we won’t do for money!!!
Santos, your comment can go both ways. The judge is only sentencing him to a short sentence for two reasons. 1-so he doesn’t die in jail and 2-so he can help out the community with his money. I know he’s old and is repentive of his sin, but would a 30 year old get the same sentence if they repented, but were poor? My guess is not, so your comment is…what we won’t do for money, by letting a crook out early so we can get more of his money before he dies.
No name of the insurance company??? Still free to make money – no shame on the insurance company’s reputation? Or, is it closed – or simply being protected ???

No-one is above the law. To bad his greed got in the way. All I ever heard about Mayor Blase what a good mayor he was.
I know he did a lot of good.

What ever happened to the insurance agent (agency) that paid the bribe?
