Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has signed a bill into law that ensures that all denied health insurance claims can be reviewed and decided upon by a qualified, independent doctor. The law goes into effect July 1.2010

Although, I respect the government for signing this bill, I reject the Idea that the state insurance commissioner has a part in selecting independent doctors. A doctor should have full autonomy as an independent without the threat of being regulated by the state insurance commissioner. The doctors are already regulated by the medical board who gives the doctors the license to practice medicine. What qualifications in medicine does the state insurance commissioner have? NONE!!!!!!!!!! We have to stop placing non-qualified public officials in jobs they know nothing about.
