Well . . . is it a he or she? Not that it matters except the article refers to a him and a her.
The length of time (he/she) drove around without delivering tells the tale. End of story. Firing is appropriate action.
What the h3!! does this have to do with insurance?
Aside from that; how would Mojito know that there was weed in the box unless he opened it? I’m assuming it didn’t have a “Pot-R-Us” label on the outside.
He’s paid to deliver crap; not impose his morality on the rest of the world.
Just deliver the box Mojito!!!
Somebody’s glaucoma is acting up.
Why did he suspect the box conatined Mary Jane?
Did he open it?
Once he determined that it was contraband, what did he do with it? Take it back and report it to his supervisors, or drive around a big brown truck in heavy traffic smoking it until the contents (and he)were “gone”??
At least Paul Harvey would have given us the “rest of the story”……
At least the Inquirer gives you a full story. This one is missing every other sentence. (The place where the all facts would be.) Open it up -see what you see- slap some tape on it afterward, and drive on – either to the front door or back to UPS with your “crushed” box where the stuff fell out. This guy sounds like he ended up being a thief; hence the firing.
I am a retired UPS employee, nowhere in a UPS drivers job description does it say anything about opening packages you are entrusted to deliver other than the fact it will get your *** fired ! Good call.
So this idiot not only didnt deliver the package, he kept it AND opened it. Contacting the police FIRST never occured to him?? End of story, he absolutely deserved to be fired, and not only that, to be prosecuted for federal theft. UPS drivers dont have police badges, and unless it was ticking or looked dangerous, this clown had NO right to open it, especially after being ordered to deliver it. Throw the book at the foole!
What was it about the package that allegedly caused the driver to become “suspicious” that it contained marijuana? Perhaps a familiar aroma coming from it that the driver knew from past experience? How much did the driver “pinch” out of it after opening it and breaking federal law? There is much more to this story than meets the eye. The driver should absolutely be prosecuted.

Don’t touch the package, secure the vehicle, call you supervisor. If your guilty then smoke it. Sorry……your fired!

Why are so many reporters reporting this story without all of the facts. This driver “OPENED” the package on their own.
