anybody who is against red light cameras is saying that it is okay to run red lights. you either obey the law, or you break the law – there is no middle ground. if the city makes money, and it helps prevent accidents, then more power to them!

Vehicles approaching red light cameras tend to stop more abruptly, often stopping hard when the light turns yellow for fear of getting a ticket. The car behind tends to expect that they will pass through the yellow light, as is legal and warranted at least by my state’s laws, and usually plows into the back of the too soon stopping car. Red light cameras do actually increase the frequency of rear-end accidents, which coincidentally(?) are the big money makers for personal injury attorneys. Hmmm. http://www.motorists.org/photoenforce/home/rear-end-collisions-go-up/
