    Hello {InsertName}

    My name is Amwar Nageeri. I am the President of the Nigerian International Bank. I must ask for your assistance. We need you to accept payment in amount of $100,000. You will subsequently wire $75,000 to us and keep 25% as your fee for your assistance………..

    Hello people!!! If someone asks you to wire them money they are trying to scam you…PERIOD!!!

    It doesn’t matter if it is a bogus Nationwide check, a too good to be true deal on a flat screen TV on Craigs list, a Nigerian money scam email, or anything else. Don’t wire people money.

    I believe the trick is in some sort of banking rule that funds be made available in X number of days. So the bank “clears” the funds in your account, and after they have given this “clearing” indication then later on the check really does not clear, and then you are personally liable for all of the funds.

    Or just live by the old adage “if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.”

    This is an old scam, the last time I heard about this $4,500 check scam it was called cash for clunkers – the checks that were never sent were supposedly backed by the government.
