Economist: Midwest Economy Improves

    Do these people live and work in the midwest? Michigan is turning into a large empty space. Business either leaves or goes out of business. The confusing sets of numbers provided don’t really convince me that the disaster I see happening around me is turning around.

    Michigan was not included in this survey. It is not one of the states considered to be in the Midwest Region for purposes of the study per the article.

    Did you read the article? The numbers cited do not include Michigan.

    I plead guilty on that count. But why wouldn’t Michigan be in the survey? Did we move?

    Culturally, I think of Michigan as midwestern, but economically, it is part of the Great Lakes region (rust belt). Note that Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio are also absent from the report.
