Iowa-based Casey’s General Stores will pay $12.1 million to settle two class-action lawsuits concerning overtime pay.
Casey’s, a convenience store chain based in Ankeny, Iowa, was sued in May 2007 by two assistant managers who said the company failed to pay them overtime.
Casey’s was sued a second time by cooks and cashiers in Jan. 2008. They claimed the company asked them to perform tasks before and after their shifts and that they were denied mandatory meal and rest breaks.
Casey’s will pay $11.7 million to the plaintiffs, class members and their lawyers under an agreement announced May 8.
Casey’s also agreed to pay another $400,000 in “related settlement expenses.”
