This is ridiculous, not everyone can afford the high price of insurance – some folks can only afford fake coverage. If thats all you can afford than its better than nothing.

I agree, a lot of these polices are a great bargain and the paper work is very professionally done.

There are very few things that are fair these days. the statement that “if that’s all you can afford, than it’s better than nothing” is ridiculous though. Did you not read that it’s absolutely nothing? There is no insurance…..they bought a piece of fraudulently produced paper. they were duped. I hope this is put out on the wire other than here so that people are informed.

What’s really not fair is that anybody that bought these paid $40 for a piece of paper that is worth less than 1 cent.

At least what I am paying will give me coverage if something happens. With this “program”, you will still only have that piece of paper.

Marcy & Mark, those have to be the most IGNORANT comments I have ever witnessed!!! Why would we want people driving around without insurance? Or even the fact that there are agents & agency staff selling fake cards just so people will have something to put in their cars. I would be horrified to find out the policy I have is fake! Please read the article again. Agents and their staff are supposed to be professionals and the public should have all confidence in our ability to sale & service their insurance needs. I don’t think either one of your comprehension skills are up to par!

With prices going up, I think the market for fake insurance is going to skyrocket.

The rates are just so much better, I know a lot of people who have switched.

Hmmm… I wonder why rates are going up?! Could it be that more and more people are driving around without insurance? Guess what happens when they have at-fault accidents… UM/UIM property & collision rates go up to pay for these claims. And then guess what else “sometimes” happens to these uninsured drivers… they get tickets for no insurance and some states suspend their license for this. So now if they need to get “real” insurance their rates are going to be even higher than before. In the longer run they end up paying more than what they are saving by buying fake insurance.

Angela, I think you’d be surprised at how much money you could save by going with the fake insurance. Its actually a really good deal.

Do you work in the insurance industry? Fake insurance is not a good idea, coming from a viewpoint of a consumer and a professional. If you want to self insure like large corps, than that is different and varies within each state. And please make sure you have the money to pay for any damages you cause someone else. There are a couple of states that are trying a new product that allow drivers to pay for coverage based on their mileage and not a regular consecutive policy, which may help drive some cost down. If you do not have the money to purchase at least state minimum BIPD requirements you should not drive!
