I would wonder why they left a baby in the birth canal after the first hour much less 13!!! That Dr. should lose their license and $20m is not enough for the negligence!

A friend of mine was on a cruise ship stuck in the Panama Canal for over 3 hours, a few years ago.

    Probably something proportional – $4.6M.

13 hours – what did it take a new shift to come to work and wake those idiots up!

First, I am not trivializing the situation, but having participated in a recent birth (our first child), a C-Section is considered surgery and a last resort for someone that can possibly deliver naturally. My wife was in labor for 13+ hours and the baby also became stuck in the birth canal; however, as soon as she asked for a C-Section it was done within two hours. I know there are some people out there that will absolutely refuse to have a C-Section… I am not trying to be cold, just taking the other side of the fence…and $20,000,000…how did they come up with that #…

Unfortunately we don’t know enough to judge whether it was the doctor’s fault or if the mother interfered with proper care during the delivery. 13 hours labor doesn’t sound that long (given all the times I’ve heard about 30+ hours of labor) but 13 hours actually delivering is a little extreme. It would be interesting to know what actually went on in the delivery room.

Does anyone know that the American woman is the least informed about birth — In the world?

From the 1920s she has been taught by AMA and insurance propaganda that she is not capable of managing her own delivery and must grovel at the feet of the Dr and believe everything he says and OBEY. She is the one, who should be in charge, but she isn’t.

As a result of this lie, US is second in the world for birth mortality and first among 7 developed nations.

Twenty million was generous to the obstetric hacks, who bungled something so easily detected.
