is there a different classification of them? i know we had an f3 tornadoe in suffolk, va…i was reading somewhere else of a ef3….so is there one scale or many scales?
The ‘f’ stands for the Fujita Scale….named after the man who developed the system for identifying the strength of an individual tornado. ‘ef’ stands for Enhanced Fujita scale…I’m not sure what aspect(s) of the scale have been enhanced other than the name. I leave that to other, more weather savy individuals. What does the ‘k’ stand for? As far as I know it is the 11th letter of the alphabet.
