Ohio Employers do not have to experience a serious claim or death to be removed from group rating. Often employers can be “kicked out of group” with a minor claim. Thousands of employers in the State of Ohio face the prospect of being driven “out of business” by the monopoly that is deemed Workers Compensation Insurance. It is a penalizing inequitable program whereby it does not follow standard insurance practices. The current administration made many promises during the campaign days when Democrats swept the State elections. However it has been a year and a half – and very little has been done despite what the BWC communications director, Keary McCarthy states. – Employers are “drowning every day” and thousands of them may not be around when and if the BWC and Board of Directors follow the nine actuarial studies that showed the Group Rating System is flawed, inequitable and penalizing to those Employers that are unfortunate enough to have a claim or two. Sponsor Groups are not fully regulated by the BWC. Research will tell you that the Ohio BWC has been racked by corruption and fraud. The BWC was driven by special interests and paybacks. In order to “clean house” completely the existing program should be scrapped or else the Workers’ Compensation should be privitized.

After completing all the paperwork for the drug free/10 point programs and faxing them to BWC on the 29th of April, I get a letter from the BWC that I haven’t submitted the paperwork. If I wish to comment I should call my BWC Rep. I call the # given for my rep. and that line has been disconnected. I call the number on the letter and I get someone else’s answering machine. No one has returned my call (as of 5/14/08).
