It’s a great (benefits) system but people cannot afford to pay the catastrophic assessment and other state assessments — esp if there are more cars than drivers in the household. It causes poor people to drive without ANY coverage — it would be better to have SOME PIP coverage than none at all. Also, if you’re going to allow insurance (consumer credit) scoring why isn’t this discount applied to the state assessements?

The no fault system should be opened up to competition — let health care providers bid on auto accident coverage…and let the public elect that coverage if they want to because it’s cheaper. Farmers tried this and the healthcare associations got it shut down (no, I am not a Farmers agent)

These state assessments look like, smell like and are collected like, a TAX.

When are we going to get the $1,000 mini tort going? This has been kicked around the legislature since the mid 90’s!

This doesn’t smell like a tax to me, THIS SMELLS LIKE, ACTS LIKE AND FEELS LIKE A MOD EXTORTION!
I mean come on, what other organization in Michigan would be allowed to do this! Would Wal-marts be allowed to charge a fee to each citizen of Michigan just because they say that they are providing them with low cost products? I think not!

People, MCCA is a private organization made up of the five top insurance companies. You have no right to see into the affairs of this organization.

This year my husband and I have paid a total of $369.00 to MCCA. Now I ask you if MCCA is extorting this money from us to pay our high medical bills if every needed, why does my husband have to pay twice? Can he drive his van and motorcycle at the same time? NO! Will he get double the coverage because he is paying double the fee? NO, in fact MCCA will only cover a motorcycle if it were in an accident with a vehicle.

Its time to give the power back to the customer! I want the right to choose whether I pay into MCCA or not. I want the right to cancel or not insure a season vehicle without paying a “time gab” fee. I do not want my insurance rate to be based on my credit scores, level of education, or anything other then my driving record!
