More Ohio State Students Threatened with Song-Sharing Suits

Thirty Ohio State University students have been targeted in the music industry’s latest batch of letters warning about illegal song-sharing on campus computer systems.

A university spokesman says the students have been threatened with legal action within 20 days if they don’t pay settlements to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Ohio State is the only Ohio school among a dozen that received the notices last week. The university said the letters have been forwarded to the students.

The industry group says it’s not able to identify the students but has detected that music was illegally swapped on OSU’s computer network.

Last August, 17 Ohio State students received similar notifications. Just under half have settled.
