Woman Pleads Guilty in Iowa Fraud Case

A woman accused of racking up at least $22,000 in charges on another person’s credit card and using false workers’ comp documents has pleaded guilty to several charges.

Lindsey Eakes, 24, of North Liberty, is accused in several incidents in 2006.

She pleaded guilty in Johnson County District Court on Wednesday to insurance fraud, third-degree theft and forgery.

The fraud and forgery charges are felonies that carry up to five years in prison and fines of up to $7,500. The theft charge is an aggravated misdemeanor that carries up to two years in prison and fines of $6,250.

No sentencing date was set.

Eakes told the judge that she created doctors’ notes to file a workers’ compensation claim. She also made purchases and deposits into her bank account with another woman’s credit card and credit card checks.
