Is it possible that there was a racial element here ? Everyone in the same demographic ? St; Lois is a hot bed of this sort fo thing – especially East St. Louis (which is actually in Illinois)

I think the cop was out-of-line. It the wreck was significant enought to require extraction of the occupant(s), I don’t fault the Fire Chief for wanting to protect his people and the victims. Placement of the truck may be a judgment call but sometimes those responsible for the rescue should be given precedence.

And the loser is? …. The tax paying public. – What thin-skinned fire-captains does St. Louis have? Anxiety and Humiliation from being charged by a police officer? Apparently, this was just a battle of authority, in which the tax-paying public pays the spoils to the fire-captain. It should have been resolved by them duking it out in the annual police/fire boxing or footballl game.

Tax paying public? The department was dismissed from the case. The only person sued here was the officer, that fine came from HIS pockets. Many other sources have quoted the jury as stating that they took it easy on him because he had a family.

    “Thin skinned captain”?

You shouldnt be talking about things you dont have a clue about. From the video it was obviously a fast moving highway. Many firefighters, police, and other responders have been killed and seriously injured by motorists not paying attention. This traffic “blocking” by the fire truck is also taught in most all fire dept. emergency drivers courses. You dont arrest firefighters for doing their job and helping all involved. The cop should have wanted the fire truck there for everyones safety….he should have been happy about it and would have been if he wasnt such an idiot.
