i know that many kids have repressed these memories and now as an adult claim them. some are true and some are false. i think sometimes we try to make things better by placing blame on others. in some cases, that can be true. nowawadays, this particular crime is being noticed more and being tried in speedy manner. kids are being told by the church and hopefully, their parents to let someone know. most children have adjusted to the fact once they have reach adulthood. some don’t. fact is that the church knew that there were problems and delayed in many cases taking action. finally, when it went public, they went to action so that the congregation and outsiders can they can resolve problems. the unfortunate thing, is that it is over 4 yrs – but at least the church can apologize.

That both these men are from Oregon but suing the Omaha diocese? It also seems convenient that the alledged molestor is now dead and cannot defend himself.

I would have to agree. How convenient to jump on the “my priest abused me” bandwagon when that priest can’t say otherwise. These men are seeing how much money can be made by other examples and don’t care whose name they run through the mud. Not saying it doesn’t happen, but if therapy doesn’t help, how can money?

Beacuse money gives all aggrieved people closure. Don’t you know that by now? Coincidence Mr. Obvious? I think not.

While it is clearly coincidental that the two are both living in Springfield I can understand both becoming aware of the situation. I was raised a Catholic and although I did not suffer or know of any abuse by preists, when I was in the Coast Guard stationed on a remote location with the Air Force Base adjacent to us, an Air Force Catholic Chaplain did abuse me sexually. His rank was Major and I was an enlisted man that he got intoxicated and took back to his room. His rank and his position as a priest did intmidate me from bringing charges so I can understand a childs not knowing what to do and repressing the memory just as I have not spoken of the homosexual ‘attack’ by a person that had dual authority by his church title and military rank.

I HAVE 2 THOUGHTS: 1. WHY DOESN’T THE CHURCH LET PRIESTS MARRY IF THEY ARE HETEROS, OR DON’T BECOME PRIESTS IF THEY ARE HOMOS? 2. WHY DOESN’T SOME SPRINGFIELD LAWYER DO A CLASS ACTION FOR ALL OF THE SPRINGFIELD BOYTOYS AGAINST OMAHA?

I agree, give me a million dollars, I’ll close up all my issues, move to the Bahamas and live happily ever after. Happily ever after. Happily.

well, if you look around, there are supposedly some churches that are allowing same sex priest/priestess. to me if they are supposedly following the bible, there should not be any of this situation. but i think that a priest should be able to marry, matter of fact, i have heard that there is a discussion at the vatican on that matter.
