Not sure what the point is here, but one thing’s for certain: there is no cure for laziness, stupidity, carlessness, and ignorance when it comes to fire prevention. If some people don’t care enough about their personal safety to maintain a smoke detector (which even an idiot can manage)nobody else should be concerned. I have handled counteless fatalities from fires ranging from carless smoking, to overloading extension cords, to putting candles next to flammable materials, to space heaters. The common denominators in 99% of them was some form of human deficiencies described above. I don’t support the time, expense, and inconvenience of “idiot-proofing” everything in life to protect that 1% of idiots from themselves. I do support education and personal responsibility……two concepts that seem to have been lost on recent generations.
