America is becoming a socialized state where they people keep looking to the government for their next handout. This is similar to the feds GIVING each family of the 9/11 victims an average of $1,000,000 and for what? Life is full of risks and these unfortunate souls were victims of a terrorist war on democracy. The families of soldiers who lose their lives in war aren’t given money. Life insurance, disability insurance, and the tort system are the venues for recovery, not handouts from the government.

In February 2008, Lawmakers will discuss a potential Victim Compensation Fund. Those who opt into the Fund will opt OUT of the tort system, potentially saving the state a lot of money. Government was the one who built this bridge and was the only entity who could keep it from falling down.

Yes, life is full of risk, so next time you drive over a bridge, do you realize you’re rolling the dice? Of course not. This bridge should not have fallen. You take it for granted, and you should. MN plows the roads, yet they didn’t cause the snow to fall. Why shouldn’t MN help these victims, especially since the State is the culpable party?

Perhaps if you or your loved one fell with the bridge and were injured or died, you would realize that it’s easy to blame the victim, instead of seeing what’s really happened here.
