Habitual offenders need to be dealt with swiftly and severely to prevent them from killing innocent people. Our courts have a disgraceful and irresponsible track record in this regard. It’s time to get tough with drunks. If they have a problem they should have access to treatment. BUT…….when the treatment and they fail to kick the habit, society needs to act. None of this going badck to rehab multiple times. That should include a lifetime loss of driving priviledges, and jail time for anyone who allows them to operate a motor vehicle. Chronic alcohol abusers are a drain on society and a publis menace. Allow them to drive is inviting disaster.

plausible alternatives. It’s time we stopped catering to these people. Here’s a hot idea……..Drunk Town. I don’t mean to sound calloused, but if these people are so weak they lose all respect for themselves somebody needs to intervene.

There probably will not be any drunk bus, taxi, or any other public transport. Nebraska doesn’t really have much of this, as they ususally have to travel great distances to get somewhere, therefore, everyone has a car. Public transport can’t stay in business, as they do not have enough customers.

Phil, public transportation could be a public funded free taxi. Currently we dont cator to drunk drivers – But we should because nothing else is working.
