    BRILLIANT !!!! Another piece of useless and obvious research. I wonder if their conclusions have anything to do with these states having the highest deer population? Duh.

    What they are really saying is that the deer need to move to Hawaii because their chance of survival is much greater there. Wish I could have been paid for THAT study!

    In addition to the number of deer, the quality of roads must come into play. The curvey mountain roads of WV must be a key contributor to the states number one ranking.

    I’ll bet the alcohol consumption of the deer in these areas has something to do with this. Maybe they should have the police crackdown on “running with the herd while under the influence”.

    The real deer/traffic study should focus on highway/interstate construction in wildlife rich areas. There is much more risk created when concrete barriers are built between opposite bound lanes. If the barrier splits the wildlife territory, many animals cannot cross the highways due to the barrier height, therefore making it much more likely that we will strike them with vehicles.
