The day the chair flew across the basketball court should have been Knight’s last in competitive basketball – at any level.

Passion is one thing – a bad temper and lack of self-control is another.

FSN – you got my point. How many times have we heard of athletes and coaches getting busted for drug use and possession, but they still get their huge contract? If I pee dirty I’m fired. And it’s not just athletes, it’s also big stars in Hollywood. I resent the easy life afforded them by their wealth and fame. They should have to live by the same laws as the rest of us.

If I ever owned a team nobody would want to play for me. I would write it in the contract that any breach of the law would result in immediate dismisal and forfeiture of the rest of their contract.

Why is it anybody in an athletic position can get away with anything they want with no job reprecussions? If I did one-tenth of the stuff athletes and coaches did I would never work again.

Don’t make a blanket statement about all athletes or sports…if you have opened a newspaper lately…you can see that leagues are aggresively pursuing illegal activities by the few bad apples in each sport…

If you are one the top 5, all-time, at your profession, I’m sure you could throw a chair and keep your job.

If you’re top 5 you could probably get away with throwing a chair – just as long as it’s not on tape where it can be shown over and over (I think you might be looking for a new job if it was – unles you’re Geraldo).

They are not saying that the leagues aren’t trying to enfore the highly illegal activities, ie. gambling. What they are saying is that atheletes tend to be forgiven for something that normal workers wouldn’t. For example, pick up your chair and throw it across your office. I imagine you wouldn’t have a job come Monday.
