This just points up the necessity of ensuring your will is up-to-date and for ensuring that the beneficiary on the insurance policy is who you want to get the money.

We don’t have all the details here, but it is obvious that somehow the soldier’s mother was able to get access to the money somehow.

Make sure your wills and beneficiaries are current folks.

What gives? What was the woman charged with? All I can see in the article is that her sentencing date for the original conviction was delayed; nowhere does it make mention of any new crime!!!

It sounds to me that a trust of some type was the beneficiary since the money was supposed to be saved for his daughter. The mother was probably executor of the trust because the son didn’t know his mom was a loser.

Either that or he didn’t bother with a trust, made his mother beneficiary hoping that she would be trustworthy enough to save/invest it appropriately.

Nearly everyone I know serving in Iraq has no misgivings of the danger they face daily and do well to write a will before they even deploy.

Then again, maybe the worn brown envelope’s contents were planned to increase in value, kind of like Ohio backing it’s Worker’s Comp Fund with rare coins.
