The state of intoxication. Now you see what happens when politicians get involved in things they don\’t understand!

You know, I\’ve thought for years parents should be responsible for what their kids do. I\’m happy to see that Nebraska has passed this legislature. I hope it expands to more than just underage drinking. Maybe parents will wake up and realize it is THEIR JOB to raise THEIR OWN children.

How is the adult not \”already\” liable for providing illegal substances to minors? If my child is at a Nebraska household and the parents are serving booze to the minors, I would not need this law to kick the parents butt…
Why is this being codified when it is common sense in any other state?

    Am I wrong?

Your absolutely right. Most states if you contribute to underage drinking you will and should be held liable. In fact you should be held criminably liable.

Amen to all 3 of you.

Parents are responsible for their urchins whether they like it or not… and whether it\’s codified or not.

    Duh!

This is a waste of time and taxpayers\’ dollars. This is like a common sense bill. Prior to this bill, if the same situation occurred, the parents would still be held liable for serving the minor alcohol, if any damages were incurred because of it. The courts always go to the source of \”where did the minor get the alcohol?\” Nothing has really changed due to this bill. It\’s a no-brainer.

Please list all states that don\’t need to have a law like this enforced.

I’m sure in some state where you can marry your sister, have open containers in cars (trucks), gun racks….. you get the picture.
