Marsh is not the crook! It\’s Zurich for allowing it to happen. That Zurich employee should have been fired for cooperating in committing fraud against the Zurich and the client. Underwriters are suppose to protect the carrier\’s assets and thos of their clients and not of the brokers. However, I must admit that many times underwriters are forced into fraud by their underwriting managers to pasify the \”Large\” broker\’s needs. I\’ve underwriter for 30 years and it\’s always been that way, cooperate with the \”Major\” broker or be fired! or demoted. This is the reason many of us old time underwriters have been put out to pasture and replaced with new young people that will say \”Yes\” to everything the underwriting managers want.

Most of Marsh\’s staff are CPCU designated and that is suppose to mean that they are experts in making good decisions for their company or brokers. Frankly, statistically good judgement on any given risk is based on experience and comes from honesty and the heart and not from any CPCU or PHD degree. The Marsh, AON and AIG of the world have become to greety and their clients and especially the old time underwriters are paying for it.

Did you ever think that it might be both of them? It\’s not just Marsh & Zurich. You are correct, however, about the old line underwriters that didn\’t play the game. They just got different territories!
