What a turn around of events. To be loaded up in a carrier for transport to the slaughter and end up being saved and given a chance to continue living and bringing happiness to others. Way to go to the Humane Society for stepping in and taking the animals in exchange for the services they\’ve offered after the accident.
i thought northland was out of business. i understood a bank tried to sell them and when they couldn\’t ran off the business. is there another northland?
Yes, it was lucky for some of them. Too bad for all the other \”livestock\” that is slaughtered every day. Why is it some people feel it is wrong to slaughter horses, but not cattle and hogs – they are all as equally living and feeling creatures. This is also too bad for us, as it consumes a much greater amount of resources, and produces much more pollution, to put the grain through the animal, than to just eat the grain. And with all the antibiotics, insecticides and other chemicals that are in factory-produced livestock nowadays, it is also unhealthier for us. For a first-person report, see madcowboy.com
Smart move for the insurance company to get this to the media. Why cant environmental terrorits take that slaughter plant off line? No one would really care would they?
If anybody took note, these horses were NOT old, infirmed (until the accident), sick or crazy. These were people\’s horses that were tossed aside and into the hands of these brutes who were hauling them to slaughter. So much for the myth of the type of horses to end up in slaughter. All of the living are adoptable once the injuries incurred are treated and the horses released by the vet. This incident is a prime example of why horse slaughter should cease in this country. There is a Northland that deals with trucking companies. That might be the one they are referring to.
