That the true victims of abuse should be denied proper compensation by the bankruptcy of the Diocese is extremely sad. I must wonder, however, how many of these true victims are being victimized again by those who fraudulently claim an abuse that never happened. The sheer numbers of victims drives the claims to the point that bankruptcy becomes a financial alternative. I can only hope that the fraud of the con artists is not depriving the true victims of just compensation.

I think it\’s hilarious that these alleged \”victims\” think they will no longer be a \”victim\” after obtaining multi-million dollar settlements. It\’s even funnier that they now allege they are being victimized\” because of the bankruptcy. I say good for the churches. The only \”victims\” here are the attorneys that will not get their cut of the settlement cause face it, no attorney really cares about these alleged abuse victims, all they see is cash.

Please know the facts before spouting off like this – I\’ve handled some of these cases and the victims of abuse are for the most part in really bad shape – failed marriages, school dropouts, emotional and psychological problems, suicide attempts – it\’s hard to present a fraudulent claim of this nature because of the volume of medical and therapy records you have to produce to support the claim.

The purpose of pursuing these claims is to force the Catholic Church to confront two major problems – first, the large number of pedophiles in the priesthood, and second, the decades-long well established proof of a conspiracy by the church hierarchy to cover up this disaster and place the \”well-being\” of the church ahead of the safety of children. It\’s an appalling story, and the public only knows a fraction of the truth.
