Insurance follows the vehicle; the university owns the van; the driver was a permissive user under the university\’s insurance policy. This is basic insurance law.

Ok, maybe I am missing something here, or maybe the IJ has once again done sloppy reporting. Why would the school be on the hook for this crash? Just because it was a school van? That seems like a stretch to me. Where was the negligence by the school? Did the van have a malfunction which caused it to crash? Once again, an article not complete.

you are not missing anything. it\’s all about deep pockets and how much the family of the \”victims\” can legally extort from any party with deep pockets. it is not about real liability. yes, it was a school van being driven by one of the injured students that fell asleep at the wheel. the school did nothing wrong but provide the van.

The vehichle was overloaded with gear. That contributed to the crash. There does not go a day by that I do not miss my brother and wish for all the worl to have him back. It haunts my family to this day. We would gladly do anything if we could have him back. I think about my brother all the time and would do anything for one more chance to talk with him. To show him who I became. He had so much promise and potential. He would have had a good life. No money in the world can make up for our loss.
