If the man had prior convictions for driving without insurance, fine… put him in the pokey for a couple nights, if that\’s standard policy for such situations.

However, the man was KILLED by another inmate which begs several questions…

Did the alleged murderer have a violent history? If so, why was he allowed to mingle among the non-violent offenders? Where were the guards when this was taking place? Removing a metal rail from a restroom wall is bound to make some noise – first red flag. He took that rail from one location to another – second red flag. Moyle probably yelled or screamed immediately (unless the first blow knocked him unconscious) – third red flag.

The argument shouldn\’t be whether or not Moyle was wrongfully jailed. It seems to me that his death could have been prevented. Is it possible that certain people are inflating other issues in hopes that no one will pay as much attention to the fact that he probably died because of someone\’s failure to pay attention?

And still not a word about protecting low risk prisoners from homicidal \”scofflaws\”.
\”Obviously this jail sanction, I\’m hoping, might be enough to let him understand that he can\’t continue to drive vehicles without insurance,\’\’ Battey said at the time.

I have no issue with the police following the local law and jailing a man accordingly.
I have a very big problem with a county jail system that locks up misdemeanor criminals with felony violent offenders.
I hope his family sues the hell out of the county for this ridiculous happening.

I must have missed that part, although I read the article several times. Where does it say the killer was previously considered a \”violent felony offender\”?

Obviously he was, but was that before or after this murder?

from the original article, last Friday…\”Authorities said the suspect was in the county jail awaiting a court date related to an earlier attack at a state prison.\”

The county appears to have been grossly negligent and rightly will be forced to pay thousands in damages to the deceased\’s family.

Auto insurance, in any event, should be optional.

All the money he wins in the law suite will go to the DMV to pay the fines for no insurance!

Optional? Why would you think that?

The money will go to raise his baby i have no doubt.
I wonder who decided he was more valuable dead
And last but not least if you have insurance you probably won’t need it.
That’s why everyone should have it.
