The reform bill the gov pushed through increased indemnity benefits in a state that already had some of the highest benefits in the nation. The \”savings\” for employers was supposed to be the fee schedule. Anyone that actually read the new law knew these savings would not materialize. The fee schedule is based on \”billed\” charges. To increase the fee schedule amount, providers simply start billing more.

When more jobs start leaving Illinois, the unions and trial lawyers can thank the governor for his one-sided workers compensation reform bill.

So, the savings won\’t be realized? Not a single WC insurer in the state is surprised to hear this. In exchange for this wonderful fee schedule savings, employers had to accept higher permanency levels and an increase on maximum rates. Prior to the fee schedule, we were reailizing a PPO savings superior to the fee schedule savings. It\’s not all bad… in another 20 years perhaps we will see another amendment to the WC Act.
