Neb. Man Found Guilty of Insurance Fraud, Sentenced to Prison

The Nebraska Department of Insurance recently released information about the conviction and sentence of Robert C. Fisher. Fisher, who was doing business as Fisher Auto Glass Inc., was found guilty and sentenced in the District Court of Lancaster County, Nebraska, on two felony counts of insurance fraud.

Fisher received a one- to two-year sentence for count one and a one- to three-year sentence for count two, which are to be served consecutively. Fisher was found guilty of submitting bogus invoices to an insurer, which represented repair or replacement of automobile glass claims for work not performed. The invoices were submitted between May 3, 2002 and July 20, 2004, and amounted to several thousands of dollars.

In considering the nature and circumstances of the crimes, District Court Judge Steven Burns found imprisonment of Fisher to be necessary for the protection of the public. There is substantial risk that during any period of probation Fisher would engage in additional criminal conduct, Judge Burns said.
