Arthur is right on target. This list looks like a list of “Also Rans”. WTF ?
It’s funny to watch this kind of garb actually make it to the surface. It makes one wonder how much money was paid for the press attention !
Lets watch the P & C segment after a few Katrina’s wash up on our coast lines. When the dust settles from some real action, we will see which companies had their act together. Until then, anyone that can publish a list should do it on toilet paper, that may reflect the real value of the quality of the information provided.
Ivan is correct in that proper correspondence would list all 50 companies that made the “Ward’s 50.” It did mention several companies, but provides a vague description of “honored” without going into great detail. It just appears to me that the article just lists those companies that perhaps have some sort of gold or platinum sponsorship of the journal. If they wanted to be fair, list what they were honored for, i.e. lowest combined ratio, lowest volatility in earnings, etc. Don’t just state that also honored were Cincinatti and SECURA, which can imply that their honor is just simply being listed without any supporting details. Ivan is right in that they should have ended the article this way…

I would like to see the list of the top 50 companies, or provide a link to where the list ca be found.
The article, if you took the time to read it, did not say it would list the companies, just that Ward names the top 50 companies!! Who’s the idiot??!!
