RiskMeter Online Adds S.D. to Wildfire Coverage

CDS Business Mapping, a provider in online hazard mapping, has added South Dakota to the RiskMeter Online’s (www.RiskMeter.com) Wildfire Hazard Model. This brings the total number of western states to 12.

The RiskMeter’s Wildfire Hazard Model uses state-of-the-art mapping technology to create digital maps, which classifies vegetation by burn potential, ranging from extremely low to high. By simply typing in an address, agents and underwriters will receive a report that returns: Proximity to Medium and High Brush, Color Coded GIS Map and Aerial Photo (optional). Not only does this service allows users to perform brushfire lookups quickly and accurately, but it reportedly saves them valuable time and money as well.

“Many experts are predicting that the 2005 wildfire season has the potential to be a very costly one for insurers,” explained Dan Munson, VP of sales and marketing. In order to minimize losses it’s imperative to have access to the latest wildfire maps and data. Our data and maps are updated weekly, which in turn enables our users to have an accurate picture of how much risk they are exposed to.”
