MedPro has been the gold standard in the medical professional liability business for so long. Over the last few years they have managed very conservatively, non-renewing poor risks and raising rates substantially. Now, in spite of these efforts, they are being dragged down … too bad!!

Too bad over 100 years of excellent service and stability offered by Medical Protective has been tainted by its association with GE.

I don’t think it has to do with association with GE, it has a lot to do with the willingness of underwriters to price risk well below acceptable levels and the complete ineffectiveness of state regulators and national rating agencies (S&P is only one of them) to evaluate solvency and correctly inform the public. The list of regulatory failures is long and filled with prominent companies that were rated highly right to the bitter end.

ERC has been bleeding red ink for quite a few years now, or close to it. Med Pro has been helping to prop it up.
