DKI Backs ARC Efforts in Southeast Asia

December 31, 2004

Illinois-based Disaster Kleenup International Inc., a network of quality, independent property damage restoration contractors, announced that it has provided a means for individuals and companies to donate funds to the American Red Cross relief effort in Southeast Asia following the earthquake and tsunami this past week.

Effective immediately, visitors to the company’s Web site, www.disasterkleenup.com, will find a link to the American Red Cross online donation form where they can make financial contributions to the organization’s International Response Fund. These funds will be used to directly provide needed food, supplies, shelter, medicine and other basic necessities in those areas ravaged by the earthquake and tsunami.

In addition to making its own corporate donation and facilitating humanitarian relief through others, several DKI member companies are in the planning stages regarding the deployment of people and equipment to assist in the recovery efforts.

“Even for those of us who see disaster on a daily basis as part of our jobs, the immense scale of the devastation in Southeast Asia is beyond rational comprehension,” said Dale Sailer, president of Disaster Kleenup International. “While our North American-based organization is still addressing the cleanup of the worst storm season ever in the United States, it not surprising that our member companies are already finding ways to assist others halfway around the globe.”

With an ever increasing number of deaths, the earthquake and tsunami have also left more than 2 million people homeless and presents relief workers with a situation of unprecedented scale and severity.
