Ohio Man Sentenced for Workers’ Comp Fraud

October 7, 2004

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) announced a Columbus man has been sentenced for a misdemeanor charge of workers’ compensation fraud.

Souhil Sabbagh was sentenced to one year probation and ordered to pay $2,000 in investigative costs. BWC was paid $1,168.62 in restitution before the hearing.

Anonymous sources alerted BWC’s special investigation unit (SIU) that Sabbagh was reportedly working while receiving workers’ comp benefits. The SIU confirmed that Sabbagh was employed by Fed Ex, Consolidated Stores and Solutions Staffing while receiving temporary total disability benefits.

Sabbagh reportedly suffered injuries to his foot in August 2000 while working for Ames Merchandising Corp.
