Farmers Insurance announced the appointment of Thomas Noh as the new chief financial officer of the policyholder-owned Farmers Insurance Exchanges, which consists of Farmers Insurance Exchange, Fire Insurance Exchange and Truck Insurance Exchange.
Noh replaces Ron Myhan, whom Farmers thanked for “his many contributions over the years.” Myhan retired after a 40-year career.
Since joining Farmers in 1996, Noh has held a number of positions in finance, having started as a specialist in the accounting department. His most recent position was head of claims analytics and exchange finance strategy. Prior to joining Farmers, he worked at Executive Life, Transamerica and Allianz.
Noh also served in the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring as a Lt. Colonel, after 24 years as a finance and civil affairs officer.
Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd. announced today that its reinsurance segment, Aspen Re, appointed Meredith Head as head of North American property catastrophe.
Head will report to Christian Dunleavy, chief underwriting officer of Aspen Re and chief executive officer of Aspen Bermuda Limited.
Head will work with Andrew Mellor, head of international catastrophe, to lead Aspen Re’s property catastrophe treaty reinsurance strategy and Bermuda’s property treaty business, the company said.
Meredith joins Aspen Re from Tokio Millennium Re, where she was senior vice president of property catastrophe underwriting. Prior to joining Tokio Millennium Re in 2008, she spent 11 years as vice president and deputy manager of property catastrophe underwriting at Partner Re.
Head will be based in Bermuda and joins Aspen Re in September 2019.
Atlas Insurance Management, a captive insurance management firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina has hired Spencer Caldwell as an account manager. Spencer previously worked as a captive financial analyst for the North Carolina Department of Insurance in Raleigh.
“Finding the young talent we need in the captive insurance industry is not easy for Atlas or for others,” stated Atlas Chairman Marvin Eveleigh. “We are, therefore, very fortunate that Spencer’s move to Charlotte led him to our door. We shall benefit from his regulatory experience while I am sure he will learn to enjoy the challenge of working on the private sector side of the captive world.”
As an account manager for Atlas, Caldwell’s duties will include reporting and reconciling account statements, investments and domicile reporting requirements.
Spencer graduated from the University of South Carolina in July 2017 and became a certified public accountant in November 2018. He spent four months as an accounting and audit intern prior to joining the North Carolina Department of Insurance. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, hiking and watching sports.
