in spite of this clear and overwhelming scientific evidence, coupled with the vast majority of climatologist similar research, there still remains a core of “deniers” who think this is a vast, left wing conspiracy to take away our rights to drive a car.

There is a lot of discussion about Global Warming and Climate Change, most revolves around the use Fossil Fuels and resulting Greenhouse Gasses. If the Sun isn’t included in those discussions, we aren’t honestly looking for answers. The main source of warmth on our planet is the Sun, so any variations of the energy it radiates will affect our global temperature much more directly than Greenhouse gasses.

Whether Global Warming or Climate Change is real or not, is not a question we have an answer to. What is a fact is the weather is unpredictable and extreme, drought exists in many parts of the world, Glaciers and Permafrost are melting, and pollution is at dangerous levels in many regions and cities. These discussions can go on for another 10 years while nothing is getting done to mitigate the problems affecting us now. We can make a difference today to fix the problem tomorrow.

Whether it is the Sun or Greenhouse Gasses, the fix is actually quite simple, and all natural. If you are willing to accept that the problems we see are connected and related, the fix will be easier to understand and will take care of most of the problems. There will be those that will say it is impossible for us to fix these problems, yet they readily accept the premise that we are responsible for them in the first place.

The expectation is that there will be more negative feedback than positive. The messages we get today all point to the evils of Fossil Fuels and how its use is destroying the planet. Something to think about, if Fossil Fuels are truly to blame, and if we stopped all use right now, it could take 25 years or more to see any real results. This would also mean that all cars and trucks on the road would sit idle, manufacturing will come to a standstill, and airplanes would be grounded. There would not be enough electricity to power the electric vehicles on the road today, and we would not be able to make more. The manufacturing of solar power and wind power would stop. The Global economy would come to a grinding halt. Think about it, there would be no more iPhones!

All of us will agree that we must find a cleaner source of energy, but let us stabilize and clean the environment we have now. President John F. Kennedy posed a challenge in the early 60’s to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade. We did! When this process begins to show results, we must set a goal of clean energy within 10 years, we can do this!

Well said Mr. Stam! Let me add that finding an agreed upon approach would be desirable. While we cannot undo development which relies on fossil fuels, at acknowledging that we should not ignore our impact on our environment is a solid start.
