The Emergency Beacons mentioned are powered by PURE lithium batteries, a very different animal than lithium ion batteries. The PURE lithium batteries (Class ‘D’ hazard) are in locations where no fire suppression is installed. Lithium ion batteries (Class A, B, D) are installed where fire suppression was installed. HOWEVER, current suppression technologies have limited effectiveness for either type. LithFire-X has developed proprietary methodology (‘SCIC’) which incorporates Suppression through Cooling, Isolation and Containment.
LithFire-X has found that underwriters lack adequate knowledge about these hazards and rely on protection methods which do not completely insure a greater degree of protection.
