Earthquake Felt in Rocky Point, Mexico

A 4.7 magnitude earthquake has rattled Rocky Point, Mexico, Friday. The U.S. Geological Survey in Golden, Colo., reports the earthquake struck about 5:32 a.m. in the Gulf of California 40 miles south of Rocky Point and 208 miles south, southwest of Phoenix.

KOLD-TV in Tucson reports some people in the Mexican seaside resort town felt the shaking. No major damage is reported.

The quake was relatively shallow at 6.2 miles beneath the sea floor but likely not powerful enough for extensive visible damage.
