If Chiquita loses here I forsee a lot of greedy lawyers taking this to the next level. I imagin some lawyer will think it is alright to sue a corporation that donated money to the NRA because a member of the NRA killed a family member of theirs. I see a very slippery slope coming.
Since this involves international transactions the proper forum for this case would be The Hague. The payments made by Chiquita are not that unusual but what is unusual is that they paid a $25M fine on payments of $1.6M – $1.7M… there is a lot more to this story than what we see here…a lot more.
