Paying ransom to human garbage like this only makes the problem worse. No money should be paid. Take the profit motive away the problem goes away. All civilized nations should declare open season on the so-called pirates. Instead of paying a ransom to these animals, shipowners should pool their money an hire a mercenary force. When a ship gets snatched, the mercenaries will follow it to port, eliminate the scum, and take the property back. That’s the only language they understand.

Great idea; governments have no obligation to protect anyone or do anything for anyone. Even if they did, government is another word for incompetence. I doubt the oil companies and shipping firms would have any trouble finding and hiring a small private army to prevent and correct this sort of piracy.

I completely agree. If we keep paying them everytime they take something they are just going to continue and then use the money they have collected to blow us all up. Pirates are nothing but terriost with no funds. They are building their empire with our money and once they get what they want they are going to use it against us.

I understand we have to preserve human life but at the same time are we going to allow them to continue to drain funds from our already dry bank account. We can’t keep giving in and that’s the bottom line.
