Rather than attempting to summon help from distant resources, why not do something onboard? When an actual or suspected terrorist activity is identified, a “coded” announcement should go out over the ship’s intercom/PA system. Crewmembers should report to a pre-determined location to get a weapon they’ve been trained to use, and a hand held communication device. Once located, the terrorists should be shot, killed, and tossed overboard. That’s the way you stop this nonsense.

That’s a good plan. Than instead of looting the ships booty, there can be a gun battle, and half of the merchant marine crew can be killed.

    Good plan!

You obviously haven’t been reading about piracy lately, have you?

I have a favorite uncle in the merchant marine and do a little bit of reading. These pirates are normally armed with pistols and/or assault rifles. Gun battles would be a dangerous endeavor, to say the least.
