I love how you guys parrot the Faux News talking points so well. Al Gore did NOT say he invented the internet, but then nothing I say will ever convince you otherwise. Global warming IS a fact noted by EVERY reputable climatologist on the planet.

But hey, lets just stick our heads in the sand and listen to what the Republicans feed us. After all, Exon/Mobil knows whats best for us, don’t they?

Most telling is the fact the most vocal “scientists” who published a “report” “debunking” global warming are the same two who wrote a “report” “debunking” the theory smoking causes cancer…

‘Global warming’ shocker — Who’s minding thermometers?
Surface temperature recording stations a shambles, says veteran meteorologist

WASHINGTON — Dire “global warming” predictions are based on bad science from the very start, says a veteran meteorologist who found surface temperatures recorded throughout the U.S. are done so with almost no regard to scientific standards.

As a result of his shocking initial findings that temperature monitoring stations were constructed and placed without regard to achieving accurate recordings of natural temperatures, Anthony Watts set out to investigate the facilities used by NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

What he found were temperature stations with sensors on the roofs of buildings, near air-conditioning exhaust vents, in parking lots near hot automobiles, barbecues, chimneys and on pavement and concrete surfaces — all of which would lead to higher temperature recordings than properly established conditions (http://www.surfacestations.org/odd_sites.htm)

The UN is a bunch of communists who are trying to get a Red agenda passed behind a green cloak. IJ should be ashamed of itself for its uncritical swallowing and propagation of global warming nonsense, especially when it purports to be the final “unequivocal” word on the subject.

Even the title of this stupid piece is ridiculous. Warming doesn’t speak: how can it speak unequivocally? Perhaps the genius that wrote the headline meant that the data is unequivocal, which I’m sure surprises the many scientists on the global warming skeptics’ side of this issue. This is typical Soviet “da voter” procedure: “Everyone in Soviet Union gets to vote for Fearless Leader.”

think about it, was it not the former vice-president of the US, so-called founder of the internet (blah on that account), was it not him to have said, hey world, we are warming the surface of the earth – and then went on to win the nobel peace prize…oops who was that? he’s not even a scientist and yet, he claims to be responsible for global warming report and the internet?! what! and now the un, thinks they have evidence….um…um…
i bet if they really research time and history, you’ll find out that our earth probably has gone through a warming trend…think about all those volcanoes when they were active?! (still have many active now)…and we had an ice age, which cooled us down…so um…um…can it be cyclic? that is like saying we have 4 seasons in most parts of the world… yet in this case, we are looking at eras…

The only use these reports have are to spur on energy effiency and resource conservation efforts. And the almighty dollar already does a fairly good job of that.

Hmmm… are they faux talking points, or real talking points? Gore said, “During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet” Gore said when asked to cite accomplishments that separate him from another Democratic presidential hopeful, former Sen. Bill Bradley of New Jersey, during an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN on March 9, 1999. Gore supported technological advances related to the advancement of the Internet, but to say that HE took the initiative in creating the Internet is a bit much.

No, you’re right, an American corporation that provides us with necessary services, all at their own financial risk, is evil. Let’s let a cesspool of communists and dictators (the UN) tells the United States of America what it ought to be doing.

    >Most telling is the fact the most vocal “scientists” who published a “report” “debunking” global warming are the same two who wrote a “report” “debunking” the theory smoking causes cancer…

Ok genius, until you can demonstrate that there is significant overlap between these two groups of scientists, shut up. Like a typical lib, you must lie to win arguments. Guess what? Yer busted.

    um….back to the issue:

global warming. if i remember right our earth has been warmed before, afterall we did have an ice age. so what makes us think that this is not just a natural event. yes, we need to help curb it. i think we as a species need to remember that we can’t just keep cutting down forest whom supply the o-zone. in some of those areas, there is much needed things for medicine supplies, various animals whom are on the danger of being moved to protected status or even extinct. if our society is so overwhelmed at global warming, then let’s start producing cold energy. stop relying on fossil fuels. use natural energy (wind, thermal). reduce use of automobiles and have good mass transit. factories work on controlling emissions, not just air but water as well. but again, let’s not give credit to gore whom is not a scientist and probably was not the first one to say hello.

“Islam should not be blamed for terrorism,” UN conference

The international community should counter the spread of Islamophobia partly due to “misinformation and misperceptions”, participants at a UN counter-terrorism conference said.

Speaking at the 3-day conference, experts said there is a need for the international community to counter the spread of Islamophobia, which they noted has been growing in recent years partly because of misinformation and misperceptions about the religion.

The emergence of “misguided groups” that have deviated from the straight path to fanaticism, violence and extremism, attributing their acts to Islam, in no way justifies associating this phenomenon with the Islamic faith, they said during the conference titled “Terrorism: Dimensions, Threats and Countermeasures” in Tunis.

“It profits from weak State capacity to maintain law and order,” said co-chair and Tunisian Culture and Preservation of Heritage Minister Mohamed El Aziz Ben Achour, during the concluding session on November 17.

“These vulnerable areas are exploited by terrorists to mobilize recruits and justify violence. None of the religions are a cause of political radicalism and extremism. Religious doctrine may be ‘tools of mobilization,’ rather than a direct cause,” he said at the conference which was jointly organized by the UN’s Department of Political Affairs and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

Participants agreed that terrorism flourishes in environments where there is discontent, exclusion, humiliation, poverty, political oppression and human rights abuses, as well as in countries engaged in regional conflicts.

So we should believe what the UN says about global warming – it’s happening – with as much faith as we believe their pronouncements about Islamic terrorism – it’s not Islamic.
